Construction News Update – Winter 2021

Dear Reader

Welcome to the winter edition of our quarterly publication which contains a roundup of news from across our construction sectors: automotive, commercial, education, healthcare and residential. I hope you find this newsletter of interest and would be delighted to help with any enquiries you may have.

As the year draws to a close, I would like to thank our staff, project teams, contractors and suppliers for their hard work and commitment in achieving exceptional results for our clients throughout the last 12 months. We are all aware of the pressures and strains in the industry, but I have seen remarkable progress by our collective teams to instil confidence and determination to overcome challenges.  Even with the onset of winter and the lingering cloud of the pandemic, there is much to look forward to in the year ahead.

We are delighted to announce we have been awarded an £8.5m healthcare contract to build a 75-bed care home for a new client in north Essex. Naturally, we are absolutely thrilled and further demonstrates the expertise and reputation we have built in this sector.  We also have other exciting projects to announce in the new year, so 2022 is looking like our busiest yet.

In the previous roundup of construction news, we reported on several completed projects and we are pleased to report on further projects in this edition.  Only recently, the team in Woodbridge, Suffolk, has completed and handed over a new £6.7m care home. We really enjoyed delivering this project which created an outstanding modern facility for our client. Other completed projects include phase 2 of works at a Chelmsford school to convert an old gymnasium into a library and a new teaching block for a school in London.

Our team has commenced works on two new commercial construction sites. Our site in Ardleigh is forming 26,000 sq.ft. of new office space with associated facilities and our site in Braintree is creating a bespoke office facility. Other project updates are detailed below.

In October we hosted our inaugural construction and property event which was held at the birthplace of projects for Horizon Construction. The Barn in Colchester was a fantastic venue and the event was a huge success. Over 50 senior practitioners attended and Robert Pomery provided an excellent update on changes to the planning environment. We will be announcing follow-up events in the new year.

We continuously seek new talent to join our expanding team. Recently we have welcomed Jack Burton as Senior Estimator, Peter Sevant as Site Manager, and Zoee Gregan in Administration.

Please continue to explore the content on this page. If you have any enquiries, please contact us.

Finally and importantly, with the festive season upon us, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Healthy, Joyful and Successful New Year.

Kind regards

Phil Holding
Managing Director
