Horizon Construction was delighted to be invited back to Southend High School for Boys to transform two existing areas of the school into additional teaching and catering facilities.
Construction works involved the development of an external courtyard area into four fully equipped classrooms over two floors. A single classroom on the second floor, dedicated to children with special needs, included two office spaces, WC, a lift to/from the ground floor and an outside recreation area.
Other works involved enclosing an external mezzanine area to create an additional catering facility for the school’s children.
The project was undertaken within a live school environment, creating highly controlled and safe areas of operation, protecting existing infrastructure, and involving heavy machinery inside the school. This is the second project for the school (see first project).
