This flagship education construction project at Chelmsford County High School for Girls included a modern sports hall facility, tennis courts and a science-focused teaching block.
Both buildings comprised a mixture of steel frame and traditional masonry construction on standard foundations. The sports hall features a Junkers floor with a full range of sporting options, dance, fitness and changing rooms (including showers and disabled facilities). The new science teaching block includes office, storage, and preparation rooms. External works comprised a covered social area, tarmacadam tennis courts, a lift and escape access to an existing teaching block and landscaping.
The majority of construction works took place during a live school environment. Our team delivered the scheme for the 2021/22 academic year. As a separate project, we have converted and refurbished the school’s original sports hall into a new library and educational facility.
